Happy with my latest project

I was only going to the OC Gun show for an extra clip for my XD and couldn't pass up the $5 "Fat .50" cans. So I decided to give myself a project today.

I've been getting sick of taking my stock Springfield case to the range with me and almost bought a hard case yesterday at the show but when the $5 can caught my eye I knew exactly what to do.

Before going home I stopped into a fabric store up the street and picked up some foam and spray glue.

Cut and glued a few pieces of foam to completely fill the inside of the can and then marked out some holes and started "digging"

$5 for the can
$3 for the glue
about $7 of foam, although there's about $5 worth that i threw out
$2 for the box cutter i bought too since i didn't have a decent blade at home.

$17 total for a pretty decent case (and $5 wasted) still not bad though.

When cars collide.

So driving along last night from Irvine back to Sherman Oaks I got a little boo-boo.

The car on the other hand got a very BIG boo-boo

Long story short: The car in front of me swerved at the last minute, crossing over the double line and getting into the carpool lane, to avoid the dead-stopped traffic in the left lane. No other lanes had any traffic backed up, just the left lane. Unfortunately for me i had no idea that traffic was even slowing down because the other 3 right lanes were empty. I slammed on the brakes with both feet, got slammed from behind and subsequently into the car in front of me at about 60 MPH. Although i was doing 60-65 when I slammed on the brakes I think it may have slowed me down to around 40-50 MPH, regardless, I was going fast, the car in front of me was stopped, and my butt puckered. I'm a little sore but nothing major.

Here's pics of the car and the result of the air bag deploying against my arms.

Note: Liz and I noticed a road cleaning crew detail (street sweepers and CHP cars blocking the lane)in the left lane of the freeway near the I-405/I-10 interchange, this cleaning detail easily could have been the reason traffic was backed up an hour earlier and also the reason that no other lanes at the time of the crash had any vehicles backed up. All speculation I know, but a thought.

Sam Kinison reincarnated

Ok, so I find thing funny that a lot of people don't, this is one of them but fuck it I'm laughing.

Liz loves the show "Medium". Because I don't care much for any television I will sit aimlessly by and watch a few shows with her on occasion. One night while watching shows with her, this show "Medium" comes on and in one scene the middle daughter of the star of the show is at the breakfast table eating and talking. As I am watching I can not help but think this girl looks just like someone but because the scene was so quick I didn't get to notice. So I watch a little more and it becomes very apparent who this little girl looks like. She's about 8 or 9 years old and honestly I hope that she never sees this blog because I would not want to be the one to emotionaly scar her for life but, she looks just like a 9 year old Sam Kinison! I'm not joking. Everytime this show is on and she comes on screen I look at Liz and start screeming just like Kinison and it makes me laugh all night just thinking about it. If you don't know who Kinison is you have to watch this -

THAT - IS - vintage Sam Kinison.

Now how can I say that some little girl looks like Kinison? Trust me, it's Sam reincarnated in this little kid.

Here

OK Here's what to do. Play the bottom "You Tube" video of Maria Lark and pause it at :13 seconds then, play the Sam Kinison video and listen to the audio of it while looking at the paused Maria video. rofl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just about pissing myself laughing putting this this blog post together, I am going right to hell...HAHAHAHAHAHA LOL!

Ignore the "guy" on the right, that's good 'ol Ron J.

So, if you watch the show on a reagular basis you'll never be able to get the thought of Kinison out of your head when you see this girl. Sorry if I ruined it for you but I had to let the world know that Sam is alive!

This has been fun.

Well I have been slacking...

Kind of.

I have been working on a story of the accounts off all of my travels this year but it continues to expand, I have again been back to Boston for a funeral and spent about 12 days there. So far this account is about 9 written "Word document" pages long and I'm barley half finished.

Anyway, I wanted to post this picture that I took this morning with my cell phone while I was driving into work this morning on the 101 FWY

Just looking at this "Bimbo" in front of me made me laugh so I had to get up behind it and take a picture. Who in their right mind names their company "Bimbo" I mean really, would you buy "Bimbo" food products?

Here's a link to their web site:

http://www.bimbobakeriesusa.com/

On the main page of the web site it says, "Headquartered in Texas, Bimbo Bakeries USA is part of Group Bimbo..." How does anyone sit through a marketing meeting at this company without pissing themselves laughing?

It would be hard for me to make this stuff up. I mean really, this almost sounds like another Conan O'Brien skit where he had to buy another website. (Please see hornymanatee.com)

It's been a while since i posted anything...

Yeah I know I'm slacking but there has been so much going on I've not had the time. I am currently working on a chronicle of my travels over the last 3 months (it'll be 3 months by the time I get back) and will post it prior to my returning to the States (currently in Beijing)

To summarize:

* June 8th & 9th: (2 days) New York meeting for work with potential client
* June 9th to 11th: (3 days) Boston bachelor party for my friend who's getting married in July
* June 11th: Back to New York to catch my flight back to LA
* June 12th to 23rd: (12 days) Los Angeles
* June 24th to July 3rd: (10 days) Beijing, China for work
* July 3rd to 7th: (4 days) Seoul, Korea for work
* July 7th to 10th: (3 days) Los Angeles (this really just became a 3 day pit stop to do laundry before I head off to Boston again.)
* July 11th: (1 day) Boston pit stop prior to going to the wedding (Liz came with me for this one.)
* July 12th to 16th: (5 days) Block Island, Rhode Island (wedding on an Island off the coast of R.I.)
* July 16th to 18th: (2 days) Back to Boston to chill with Family and catch a Red Sox game
* July 19th to 26th: (7 days) Los Angeles finally home in my own bed with my own pillow...ahhhh. But not for long!
* July 26 to present: (so far, 7 days) Back to Beijing for work with an, as of yet, undetermined return date. I was given exactly 23 hours notice to pack and make arrangments to be gone for at least 3 weeks. My plane ticket says my return date is Aug 28th but I have a feeling it'll be more like the first or second week in Sept.

So here I am in my hotel in China listening to Alkaline Trio on my iPod and typing away as I realized I should be documenting this unbelievable few months.

There's only been a few minor nightmares, like getting into Seoul and finding out that no one was there to get me at the air port and not only that but there had been no arrangements to have someone come and get me or set me up with a hotel or any kind of accommodations. Lucky for me i knew one person that was in Seoul at the time and he helped me get on a bus and into the city by taking to the bus driver with my cell phone. I think he said something like, "Hey, the big stupid white guy that just gave you his phone needs to get into the city. Hook 'em up." But I'll get into the details more with an upcoming post.

Later.

Minimum Wage bullshit!

Do you know what the Federal minimum wage is? Would you be surprised to know that the difference between the federal minimum wage and the average price for a gallon of gas is right around a $2 difference!!! I call Bullshit!

Federal minimum wage is $5.15 and the average cost for a gallon of gas in the U.S. (for the cheap stuff) is 2.88

If a minimum wage worker has to fill their car up once a week, they’re spending a day and a half working just so they can get to work! I know it’s kind of “Fuzzy math” but still it seems like an unfair balance especially when the federal minimum wage was initiated back in 1997. 1997! In 1997 the average for gas was around $1.15. Isn’t there some kinda of mathematical formula for figuring out the percentage of increase in gas vs. the loss of wage for the worker?

I know that there are state minimum wages that exceed the federal limit but don’t you think that over the course of 9 years they (the feds) could have figured out a little bit of a price hike for the people! They sure as shit don’t mind paying more at the pump because it doesn’t take them 2 fucking days to earn the money to fill up their cars. I’m not in the position to spend the time figuring out the math but if anyone out there wants to send me your findings on this subject I’ll post them up. Something should be done, this does not seem right.

I understand profitability amongst the oil companies, sure, I may not agree with the price hike but, I understand it. What really pisses me off is how the fat asses in Washington can sit there and not show a little good faith by giving some marginal increases to the people that work like slaves just to get to work.

This web site is tracking multiple House and Senate bills which could affect the minimum wage. Nice to know someone is at least thinking about this but some of these bills have been sitting in the Congressional “In-Box” for more than 4 years. This is bullshit people!
